2.Bi erregeak,bi jakintsuak eta bi lurraldeak:Primus inter pares

Jauregian erregea gora eta behera ,urrats luzeak emanez ,saloian mutur batetik bestera ,asaldaturik osoa, zebilen.Bere erresumako bi muturreko biztanleak aztoraturik zebitzalakoa ezin zuen ulertu. ” Esker txarreko menpekoak!” - marmarrean zebilen .Berak,errege demokrata hark, hainbeste  eskubideak emanda gehiago nahi zuen jaso ,antza denez . Bere lurraldeko ipar mugan  mendi zerra bat zegoen eta mendi zerra horren bi muturreko jende batzuk nahi zuten erreinutik bereizteko edo ez bozketa bat egitea.Hasi zen bere buruan egoera arriskutsuaz oldozten.Jakin bazekien bi lurralde horiek gauza batzuetan berdinak zirela, baina bestetan oso desberdinak.Alde batekoek belaunaldi batzuetan zehar borroka latz bat izan ondoren erreinua bakera iritsi zirela ematen zuen.Borrokalari  horien artean zorte hoberenekoak  kartzeletan zahartu ziren, besteak bizitza galdu zuten. Botere guztiak erabiliz eta horien artean hango lurraldeko administrazioaren laguntzaz bakea ezarri zuen. Horren ondorioz lur horretatik bereizteko gogoa nahiko hotza zegoela ematen zuen . Erregeak ez zuen nahi ezta izen osoa erabili bere pentsamenduan, eta lurralde hori E hitzen azpian zerabilen bere pentsamenduan.Beste lurralde ,ordea,beti egon zen bere barruko administrazioko bidea jarraitzen, bide horretatik atera gabe.Baina menpeko zintzo horiek bat batean bere lurraldeko administrazio botereak subiranotasun osotzat jotzen zuten , eta bere asmoa aurrera eramateko lortua zuten gehiengoa.”Ez zekiten tutulu horiek zer den ‘Primus inter pares’ printzipioa, ba?”.Esan zuen ozenki erregeak. Beste lurralde horien izena bere buruan ez errepikatzeko beste laburpen bat erabiliz  C bezala aipatzen zuen bere burmuinean.Han zegoen bere kontseilari jakintsuena itxaroten.Kontseilari hori historialari baitzen lanbidez.

Hasi ba!Esatekoa duzuna bi lurralde horiei buruz esan behingoz- zioen erregeak.

Maiestate,lurralde horiek desberdina baina era berean antzekoak izaten badira- hasi zen hitz egiten kontseilaria-.Lehendabizikoa,nire ustez, bere berezitasuna hizkuntzan datza.Batekoarena  gurea bezala latinetik dator eta  gurea bezain zaharra da.Bere indarra ez dator bakarrik beretik baina baita ere mendi kate bi aldeko latinetiko hizkuntzaren oinordeko  bakarra izateagatik, hizkuntz ofiziala alde batera utzita.Ikusita daukagu Frantziako Perigord aldean ibaia zeharkatzen duen gabarra batean bere ikurrina. Literatura anitza du eta Cervantesek  sutik salbatu zuen hiru edo lau zaldunen liburuen artean bat bere hizkuntzan idatzita zegoen. Horrek argi erakusten du jasoak direla kultura arloan. Bestekoarena hizkuntza zahar baino zaharragoa da, eta ez dut besteen hizkuntzarekin batere ahaidetasunik aurkitu .Bere literatura gehiena erlijio jenderegatik idatzia izan da azken ehun urte arte.Literatura sekularra oso murritza izan da.Baina bere literaturak ,ordea ,ahozko tradizio indartsua du.Indar hori kaleko bertsolariak ematen diote. Jendartean bata bestearen kontra aritzen dira jokoz hitz neurtuan.Jendeak begirune handienekin begiratzen diete eta hizkuntza neurri handi batean  haien bidez gordeta izan da.

Batak  Mediterraneo Itsasoan alde batetik bestera ibiliak dira eta Itsas horretako nagusiak ziren garai batean.Oraindik badago herri arrotzeko hiri bat non hitz egiten den bere hizkuntzan.Besteak Itsas Atlantikoan zehar ibiliak dira, beste muturreraino ,Ternuaraino.Bale arrantzan izan omen dira lehendabizikoak Europan.Europako herrialde askotako izan ziren  arrantza mota horretan irakasleak.Bale mota bat bere izena darama . Gerlariak bezala ere Hego Amerikan hiriak fundatzen eta borrokatzen partaide garrantzitsuak izan ziren.

Ezin ulertzekoa da ,orduan ,beren aldentzeko gogoa!-Esan zuen erregeak.

Maiestate -hasi zen esaten historialaria- orain gogoratzekoa zera da, nola behin indarrez menperatuak izan zirela.Bateren talde handia gure erresuma  baino zaharragoa zen beste erresuman bizi ziren, eta mendi kateren  alde honetako erresuma hori une batean indarrez hartuta izan zen . Besteak boterearen kontra altxatu zirenean indarrez azpiratuak izan ziren.    

“Eta ,orduan ,zer esango didazu?Zer egin behar dut?Ez zara erresuma honetako gizon jakintsuena,bada? Hori dena banekien eta.”

“Ez,Maiestate,-erantzun zion kontseilariak- nik baino jakintsuago omen badago fisikari bat.”

“Etor bedi orduan fisikari hori” -esan zuen haserre erregeak.

Itxaroten dago, Maiestate, esango diot sartzeko.

Zeharo galduta zegoen itxurarekin sartu zen ileurdintsu fisikaria.

“Hona hemen nire erresumako gizon jakintsuena- aurpegira zuzen zuzen so begiratzen esan zion erregeak fisikari-zer duzu honetaz esateko, esan agudo ba!”

“Maiestate -hasi zen hitz egiten bere lekuz kanpo sentsazioa gainditu nahian- ni erreferentzi sistema ezberdinen aldagaitz diren legeez aritzen ohi  naiz, eta baita ere  berezitasunari buruz,hau da,zulo beltzez.Badugu nahiko buruhausteak gurean teori bakar bat fisika osoari eta nahasi kuantikoarekin, beste arazorekin hasteko.Baina ,zure agindua jarraituz, tira, hona natorkizu.”

“Gu erabiltzen dugun metodologiarekin zerbait egiten saiatu naiz-jarraitu zuen fisikariak-.Hasten gara puntu batetik eta mugimendu infinitesimalarekin aztertzen dugu area txiki txiki bat.Agian pentsatuko duzu beste jakintsu batek esan zuen bezala,zera… han aurkitzen dugula bakarrik lehen jarri duguna;baina hau gure metodoa da, ez dugu beste modurik.Gero eremu bateko area infinitesimal guztiak integral baten bidez gehitzen dugu, eta horrela aztertzen dugu eremu osoa.Gure azterketarako datuak bolumenak , karga ,presioa eta antzekoak izaten dira,baina orain lurraldeen dago barruko populazio izan da.Zatitu dugu esandako bi lurraldeek zati askotan eta hartu ditugu datu batzuk.Gero gehitu dugu zati horiek lurralde osoko datuak osatzeko.Eta ikusi dugu datuak batez bestekoak nahiko antzekoak izan direla lurralde bakoitzean.”

“Orduan zer esan diezadakezu ?” – esan zuen erregeak jasangaitzeko keinu batekin.

“Maiestate, bakarrik esan dezakegu lurralde horiek, bakoitzak bere aldetik, nahiko homogeneoak direla bere burua zuzentzeko eta komunitate bat bezala bizitzeko.”

Eta erregea bueltatu zen historialarirengana eta horrela bota zion:

“Hemen zerbait faltan botatzen dut.Jakintsuen artean beti egon behar da filosofo bat.Ez zegoen bada, hemen baten bat?”

“Maiestate-erantzun zion- filosofo bati deitu nion baina honela hitzez hitz erantzun zidan: Filosofian dugun gauza ziur bakarra eztabaida da.Dena da eztabaidagarria eta horregatik zerbait finkoa ateratzeko laguntza gutxikoa izango naiz.Gainera azken aldi honetan Heraklitoren etengabeko aldaketa,Parmenidesen aldakaitz izakia,Platonen ideiak,Aristotelesen arrazoiaren bidez gauzak sailkatzeko gaitasuna,Kanten gure partikular adimeneko egituraren araberakoa ezagupena  delako ideia,

Hegelen  aldaketarako indarra aldaketarako indarra nabil jasotzeko nahian eta filosofia analitikaren hondarraren artean ea urrea badagoen ikuskatzen.Baliabide guztiak behar ditugu ekiteko eta ezin dugu beste garaiko galderak ,hau da Jainkoaren existitzen bada edo ez antzekoak, bueltatu behar.Teologian atzean gelditu zen eta materia fisikak lapurtu digu eta.”

“Alde ,alde hemendik !! – bere beretik zeharo aterara garrasika  esan zien  erregeak- Zertarako behar dut jakintsuak horretarako ,ba!”

“Eskerrak aldameneko erresumako erregea arazo berbera baduela,bestela  akabo!”

Eta erregea joan zen bere gelara , eta entzuten zen bere ahots karrankaria esaten: Ederra zientziaren ekarpena! Lehen neukan argudio bakarrarekin gelditu naiz.Primus inter pares, primus inter pares.  

Dos reyes, dos sabios y dos territorios: Primus inter pares

El rey caminaba a grandes zancadas de un lado al otro del salón, totalmente alterado. No podía comprender que los habitantes de dos extremos de su reino estuviesen revolucionados.”¡Súbditos desagradecidos! ”-murmuraba. Él, el rey demócrata que aun habiéndoles dado tantos derechos, parecían querer más. En el extremo norte de su reino había una cadena montañosa y algunos  habitantes de los dos extremos de esa cadena querían votar si separarse o no del reino. Comenzó a reflexionar sobre esa situación complicada. Sabía bien que ambos territorios eran iguales en algunas cosas pero en otras muy diferentes. Los de un lado, después de algunas generaciones de una dura pelea el reino parecían haber llegado a la calma. De los que lucharon contra él los de mejor suerte envejecieron en las cárceles, los otros perdieron su vida. Tras utilizar todo el poder y también el de la administración interna de ese territorio se estableció la paz. Por ello el deseo de separarse de ese territorio parecía  haberse enfriado. El rey no quería ni tener en su pensamiento el nombre de ese territorio y al pensar en él lo denominaba solo territorio E. El otro territorio, en cambio,  siempre había estado dentro de la vía de administración interna, sin salirse de ella. Pero esos súbditos leales, de improviso, tenían a su administración interna por única soberana, y tenían una mayoría que así lo quería. “¿No conocen esos inconscientes el principio del primus inter pares, o qué?-dijo en voz alta el rey. El rey para referirse en su cabeza a ese territorio utilizaba la misma estratagema, denominándolo solo por una letra, en este caso la C. Allí estaba su consejero mas sabio esperando. Era un historiador.

“¡Comienza, pues! Di de una vez lo que tengas que decir de esos dos territorios”-le conminó el rey.

“Majestad, esos territorios son distintos pero a la vez parecidos-comenzó hablando el consejero-.La particularidad primera, a mi parecer, se fundamenta en su idioma. El de unos viene como el nuestro del latín y es tan antiguo como el nuestro. Su fuerza no radica solo en él mismo sino también en el hecho de ser el único heredero de todos  los idiomas procedentes del latín de las regiones próximas a ambos lados de  la cadena montañosa, distintos del idioma oficial del país vecino. Hemos visto en una gabarra que surca el rio en la zona del Perigord tener por bandera la suya. Tiene una literatura muy rica y  entre los libros de caballería que salvó Cervantes del fuego en su obra ‘El Quijote’  había uno en su idioma. Eso muestra a las claras que son de un nivel cultural elevado. El de los otros es un idioma antiquísimo, y no se le ha encontrado parentesco con otros idiomas. Hasta hace unos cien años la mayor parte de su literatura  estaba escrita por clérigos. Su literatura secular es muy reducida. Pero, en cambio, su literatura  tiene una fuerte tradición oral. Esa fuerza le han dado los versificadores del pueblo. A modo de juego se enfrentan unos contra otros ante la gente, en lenguaje versificado. La gente les tiene mucho respeto y el idioma se ha conservado  vivo en gran medida por ellos.

Unos han andado de un lado al otro del Mediterráneo, siendo los que lo dominaron en una época. Aun hay una ciudad en una isla en el extranjero donde se habla su idioma. Los otros cruzaron el Océano Atlántico, hasta el otro extremo, hasta Terranova. Fueron al parecer los primeros en Europa en la pesca de la  ballena, siendo los maestros de esa pesca para otros países europeos. Un tipo de ballena lleva su nombre. Como guerreros también fundaron ciudades en Hispanoamérica y en esta empresa fueron parte importante.

“¡No es de recibo, entonces, ese deseo de separarse!”-dijo el rey. 

“Majestad-comenzó a decir el historiador-es tiempo de recordar lo que sigue, como fueron sometidos una vez, utilizando la fuerza. Una gran parte de uno de ellos vivía en un reino más antiguo que el nuestro, y la parte de este lado de los montes fue anexionada utilizando la fuerza. Los otros se alzaron contra el poder y fueron sometidos por la fuerza.”

“Y, entonces, ¿qué me vas a decir?  ¿Qué tengo que hacer? ¿No eres acaso el más sabio de este reino? Todo eso que me dices ya lo conocía.”

“No, Majestad-le respondió el consejero- hay un físico que es más sabio que yo.”

“Que venga ese físico”-dijo enfadado el rey.

“Está esperando, Majestad, le diré que entre”

Entro el físico de pelo cano con aspecto de estar totalmente fuera de lugar.

“He aquí el hombre más sabio de mi reino-le dijo el rey al físico mirándole directamente a los ojos-¿qué tienes que decir de esto? ¡Dilo rápido!

“Majestad- comenzó a hablar tratando de superar su sensación de estar fuera de lugar-yo acostumbro a trabajar con  leyes que son invariables en los diferentes sistemas de referencia, y también con las singularidades, los agujeros negros. Ya tenemos bastantes quebraderos de cabeza para hacer de la física una teoría unificada y con el entrelazamiento cuántico, para ponernos a  tratar de resolver otros problemas. Pero aquí me tenéis siguiendo vuestras ordenes”

“He intentado hacer algo siguiendo la metodología que utilizamos-continuó  el físico-.Partimos de un punto y con un movimiento infinitesimal analizamos un área muy pequeña. Quizás piense que como otro sabio dijo solo encontramos lo que antes habíamos puesto; pero es nuestro método, no tenemos otro. Luego integramos todas estas áreas infinitesimales de una superficie determinada y así tenemos el análisis del área completa. En nuestros análisis los datos son volúmenes, carga, presión y cosas de este tipo, pero ahora los hemos sustituido por la población que está en las dos áreas que nos han sido indicadas. Hemos dividido esas áreas en muchos trozos y tomado algunos datos. Luego hemos integrado esos trozos para obtener los datos totales. Hemos visto que el promedio de los datos en cada uno de esos territorios es muy parecido.”

“¿Entonces, que me puede decir?”-dijo el rey con gesto impaciente.

“Majestad, solo podemos decir que esos territorios, cada uno por su lado, son lo suficiente homogéneos para dirigirse ellos mismos y vivir como una comunidad.” 

Y el rey se dirigió al historiador y le espetó lo siguiente:”Algo hecho yo en falta aquí. Entre los sabios siempre suele haber un filosofo ¿No teníais ninguno aquí?”

“Majestad-le contestó-llamamos a un filosofo, pero nos dijo literalmente lo que sigue: en filosofía lo único que es seguro es la controversia. Todo es susceptible de controversia y por ello sería de poca ayuda para obtener nada definitivo. Además últimamente ando a la búsqueda del cambio continuo de Heráclito, del ser invariable de Parménides, de las ideas de Platón, de la capacidad de clasificar las cosas según criterios de razón de Aristóteles, de la idea de Kant de que nuestro conocimiento viene dado según nuestro particular estructura mental, de la fuerza para el cambio de Hegel, tratando de recogerlos y explorando para ver si entre las arenas de la filosofía analítica hay algo de oro. Necesitamos todos los recursos para actuar y no podemos volver a preguntas de otra época, del estilo de probar la existencia de Dios. La Teología quedo atrás y la física nos ha robado la materia.”

“¡Fuera, fuera de aquí!-grito fuera de si el rey-Para que necesito sabios que no me sirven para nada! Menos mal que el rey del país vecino tiene el mismo problema, si no estaría perdido.”

Y el rey se retiro a sus aposentos, y se escuchaba su voz aguda diciendo:”¡Bonita aportación la de la ciencia! Me voy con el único argumento con el que ya venía. Primus inter pares, primus inter pares.”

    

Two kings, two wise men and two territories. Primus inter pares

The King was walking with long steps from one side to the other in the audience hall, quite upset. He could not understand why the inhabitants of two ends of his kingdom were in an agitated state.”Ungrateful subjects! ” -whispered. He, one so democratic king, having given them so many rights, now it seems that they request yet to have more. In the north end of his kingdom there was  a range chain of mountains, and some inhabitants of the two ends of these mountains want to vote in order to know whether they want to remain as part of the kingdom or not. He was thinking about this risky situation. He knew very well that both territories were similar in some aspects but very different in other ones. After some generations of hard fighting against the kingdom those from one side seem to be in peace. The fortunate fighters grew old in prison while the unfortunate ones died. After using all the power of the state and also the inner administration of the territory the peace was established. Because of this the desire of becoming independent seemed to have waned. The king does not want to have in mind the full name of this territory and only used the letter E to name it. The other territory, instead, has been always within the legality marked by its inner administration and the state, without getting out from them. But these loyal subjects suddenly took its inner administration as the only sovereign entity, and to that purpose, apparently, they got a majority among their population. “Do they not know the Primus inter pares principle, do they?”-said loudly the king. The king in order to have in mind the name of this territory used also the same trick, and so name it only with the letter C.

There was his wisest counsellor waiting. He was an historian.

“So, begin with the matter! Tell me about these territories, which you have to say about? “–said the king.

“His Majesty, these territories are different but similar at the same time.-started speaking the counsellor- The main peculiarity of both territories, in my opinion, lay in their languages. The language of the ones comes from Latin, as our language, and it is as old as our language. His strength comes not only from itself, but also from being the unique heir of all the languages that come from Latin on both sides of the mountains, apart from the official language of our neighbouring country. It has been seen in one flat bottomed boat that sails up the river in Périgord his flag waving. They have a rich tradition of literature, and one of the chivalry books that Cervantes saved from the fire in ‘Don Quixote’ was written in his language. That shows clearly that they have a high level of culture. The language of the others is very old, and no relation with any other languages has been found. Until the last century the main part of his literature were written by the clergy. His secular literature was very limited. But, on the other hand, his literature has a strong oral tradition. This strength comes from his community verse makers. As it were one contest they contend between them before the audience using a versified language.  People held them in high esteem and are one of the reasons for their language to remain alive. The ones have been from one side to the other of the Mediterranean Sea, being for a period the rulers of that Sea. In one island of a foreign country there is city where his language is spoken. The other ones crossed all the Atlantic Sea until the other side, until Newfoundland.  It seems that they were the first in Europe fishing whales, showing to other European countries how to do it. One of the species of whales has his name. As warriors were founders of cities in South America and in this task they took a great role.

“So, no one can imagine the reason they have to get apart from us!”-told the king.

“His Majesty-started speaking the historian-is the time to remember which follows, that once both were submitted by force. The main part of the ones lived in one kingdom older than ours, and their part at this side of the mountains was annexed to our country using our army. The other ones revolted against us and were submitted also by our army”.

“And then, what on earth do you mean? What may I do? Are you not, by any chance, the wisest man of my kingdom? All the information you have provided me were known by me before.”

“No, his Majesty-answered the counsellor-there is a physicist who is wiser than me.”

“Made that physicist to come here”-said angrily the king.

“His Majesty, he is waiting outside. I will say him to enter the room”.

A white-haired man who seemed to be totally out of place entered.

“Here is the wisest man of my kingdom-said the king to the physicist staring at his eyes- What do you have to say about this subject? Speak to us about, quickly!”

“ His Majesty-started speaking trying to overcome the feeling of being out of place-I usually work with laws that are invariant in any frame of reference, and also with the singularities, the black holes. We have a lot of problems in our own science trying to get a unique theory for all the physics and with the quantum entanglement and we do not need additional worries to think about. But here am I following your orders.”

“I tried to make something following our methodology–added the physicist-We start from one point and with an infinitesimal displacement we analyze a very tiny area. Perhaps you would think as one wise man says that we only find what we have put before, but it is our methodology, no alternative is available. Then we integrate all these infinitesimal areas of one particular space and so have we the analysis of the whole area. Our analysis data are volume, charge, pressure and these kinds of things. But now we have substituted them by the population that live in these particular two areas, as per your orders. We have divided these areas in a lot of pieces and took some data. Then have we integrated these pieces to get the total measurement. We have seen that all the data on the average are very similar.”

“Then, what do you have to say?”-said the king expectantly.

“His Majesty, only we can say that these territories, each one of them, are sufficiently homogeneous to govern themselves and to live in community.”

And the king addressed to the historian suddenly the following:”I miss here one thing. Among the wise men there is always a philosopher. Do you have not anyone? “

“His Majesty-he answered-we called to a philosopher, but he answered literally as follows: in philosophy the only thing that can be taken for certain is controversy. Everything is subject to controversy and because of this I cannot offer assistance in getting something definitive. And what is more,  lately I am in search of the continuous change of Heraclitus , the unchanged Being of  Parmenides, the Ideas of Plato, the idea of Kant that our knowledge is constraint by our human mind structure, the strength for the change in Hegel , to gather them all and I am also researching whether among the sand of the analytic philosophy there is some gold. We need all the resources to act and we cannot return to old-fashioned questions such as the proof of the existence of God. Theology stays behind and physics has stolen us the matter.”

“Get out, out of my presence now!-cried the king out of control-What is the purpose of having good-for-nothing wise men? Thank God for having the same problem the neighbouring king, if not I will be finished.”

And the king retired to his chambers, and could hear his high-pitched voice saying:”What a bloody contribution the one I get from the science .I have only the same reason I had before. Primus inter pares, primus inter pares.
