Bat-batean ezereza desagertu zen

Irakurtzen ari zen liburuak holako galdera potoloa zeukan haritzat: Zergatik dago zerbait ezereza egon beharrean? (1)Galdera sakona ,benetan. Ez zenekien horrelako galderaren bitartez filosofia osoa  azter zezaketela. Horren harira burura etorri zitzaizkion pentsamendu batzuk. Bizitza huts itogarritik ihesaldi bat bezala ulertua izan zitekeen, batzuen arabera, Sartre eta Heidegger haien artean.

Ekintza ihesaldi bat bezalakotzat ikus zitezkeen, baina bide orokor horretatik joan gabe, egunerokotasunera joanez, etorri zitzaizkion burura Arrasaten gertaturiko pasadizo bitxiak, non ‘zerbait’ hori ,hutsaren kontrakoa, agertu baitzen.’ Gaztetasunean tabernarako zaletasuna izandakoa zerbaitetarako zerbitzuko da, dena ez diozu heldutasunari zor, motel’-esan zion bere buruari. Mota ezberdineko gertaldiak zirenez, nolabaiteko sailkapena egin zitekeen.

Hasieran bestearen agerraldia nahikoa izaten zen ‘zerbait’ horren aurrean izateko. Nahiz eta   ‘zerbait’ horretatik ihes egiteko gogoa sor zezakeen.

‘Pro nostri generis libertate combusta’(gure arrazaren askatasunagatik erreta)idatzita zuen jauregi bateko armarriaren aurrean zegoen. Erdi Aroaren amaieran eta Errenazimenduaren hasierako oihartzunak. Oñatiko kondearen menpekoa izan ez zitezen , Bedoña zeukaten etxea erre zuten eta Arrasateko hiribilduan Artazubiagatarrek eraiki zuten etxea libre bizi zitezen. Jauregi horren ostean arbola arteko tarte gerizpetsua zegoen.

Hogeigarren mendean hantxe barra bat jarriz taberna bat zabaldu zuten, eta beste izen ez zuenik, ‘La Terraza’ bezala ezaguna zen. Seme alaba askotariko familia bat zeukan taberna horren ustiatzeko baimena orduan.

Asteburu bateko eguerdian lehen hogeiren bat bezero barra horren aurrean biltzen ziren. Tabernako seme gazteena atera zen zerbitzatzeko. Han hasi ziren bezeroak eskatzen: ‘vermut bat!,Errioxa bat!, klarete bat, txakolin bat’. Tabernariak, hasieran behiak trenari begiratzen zion moduan bezeroei begiratua bota zien, baina gero eskaera desberdin horien aurrean hasi zen urduritzen.

Eta derrepente argitu zitzaion  aurpegia eta jokabidea. Hartu zuen hogeita hamarren bat baso eta ardo txuri botila bat. Barra gainean jarri zituen eta bete zituen erdiraino baso guztiak. Esan zuen: ‘hala, ardo txuria denontzat’. Bezero guztiek marmarka edan zuten ardoa eta gogo txarrez ordaindu zuten eta joan ziren. Zerbait nekosoa gauza erraz bihurtu zuen tabernariak, nahiz eta eskaerei batere jaramonik egin gabe.

Taberna horren jabeak bazuen loro bat: Luixito. Baten batek egun batean utzi zuen Luixitoren kaiola zabalik eta loroa atera zen. Han zebilen tabernaria bere seme batekin loroaren atzetik, kalez kale. Ferixalekua zeharkatzen zen kable elektriko baten gainean ikusi zuten azkenekoz. Loroak azken begirada eman zion jabeari, eta ‘luixito, luixito’ ohiuei eta txistuei jaramonik egin gabe, hegan desagertu zen. Agian esango zuen berekiko: ‘Hobe ehun txori hegan, bat besteren eskuetan baino’.

Hurrengo kasuetan urruneko izen geografiko bat aipatzeak azpimarratzen zuen ‘zerbait’ hori. Normalean ‘zerbait’ hori laudatzeko erabilia izaten zen.

Aipatutako ‘Terraza’ tabernan ginen. Hantxe zegoen talde bat pintxoak jaten. Haien artean zegoen bat oso pozik eta oso gustura pintxoak dastatzen. Arrasateko PSOEren zinegotzia zen. Bat-batean hasi zen esaten bozkarioz gainezka: ‘Hau ez duzu jango ezta, ezta…’ Eta bere esaldia bururatzeko, bere hiri gustukoena zein zen erakutsiz, bukatu zuen: ‘… Londresen ere’.

Ez zen gaizki ibili aukeratzen. Ingalaterrako sukaldea nahiz eta fama txarra izan, mundu osoko sukaldariek soberan bete dute hutsune hori Londresen.

Udako egun eguzkitsu batean zegoen Udala auzoan. Udalaitzen maldan jende batzuk bazkaltzen ari ziren harraska baten ondoan. Aldapaz beherako belardi hartan nabaritzen zen haize gozoa. Oso lasaigarria zen berotasuna ekiditeko. Bi etxekoandre nabarmentzen ziren jende multzoetatik. Eguzkipean ziren jaten eta eguzkia hartzen bainujantzian.

Haize fresko bolada bat altxatzen ari zen bitartean esan zion batek besteari oso pozik: ‘hemen baino hobeto, non egon gintezkeen?’ Emakume horrek jakingo balu Buenos Airesen fundazioko izena zen’ Aire Oneko Gure Andre Maria’!

Hirugarrenez, beste mota bat izan liteke .Grabitatearen indarrak  edo bi gorputzeko leku eta aldi berean izateko ezinezkotasunak erakusten zuten ‘zerbait’ hori

Gaueko lagun batek ,Arantzazun fraiderekin estudiatu zuenak, kontatu zion berari gertaturiko anekdota. Jateko ordua zela-eta, berari tokatu zitzaion edalontziak mahaira eramatea. Han joaten zen txintxo-tintxo  hamarren bat baso ilara eramaten. Ezkerreko eskua goiko hirugarren edalontzian zeukan jarrita, eta eskuinekoa beheko edalontzian.

Jangelako zarata entzuten ari zen eta arreta ez zuen osoa edalontzietan jarrita. Ustekabean goiko bi edalontzi hasi ziren mugitzen,’kli, kli’ doinuarekin. Gure lagunen higidura erreflexuaren bitartez beheko eskuekin goiko edalontziari heldu zion, ziztu bizian, bitan pentsatu gabe. Akabo! Beste zazpi bat edalontzi apurtu ziren kraska handi batekin zoruen kontra.

Denok berari begira eta gure laguna mentalki ezkutatzeko leku baten bila aurkitu zitzaion. Ezkutalekua ezereza izango balitz ere, pozik hartuko zukeen!

Aretxabaletar batek kontatu zion  hurrengoa beste gauean. Poteo polit baten ondoren bere etxera zihoan. Kostatzen zitzaion zuzeneko lerroa eramaten baina hala ere, poz pozik zegoen. Zer esango zuten bere aitak/amak zegoen moduan ikustean? Bederatziak aldean ziren eta ez zeukan batere goserik.

Eskalerak igotzerakoan izan zuen ideia zoragarria. Sartuko zen etxean, sukaldeko atea zabalduko zuen eta gabon aitari eta amari esanez, joango zen zuzen (?)bere gelara. Gutxienez bazen gauza etxeko atea zabaltzeko, ze ezagutzen zuen batzuk mozkorrarekin etxeko atea zabaldu ezinean, ate aurrean belaunikatu egin zirelarik, erregutzen ateari bera bakarrik zabal zedin. Zabaldu zuen etxeko atea. Primeran!

Baina gero, sukaldeko atea zabaltzerakoan, oreka galdu zuen, zabuka balantza handi baten ondoren zerraldo jausi zen sukalde erdian. Bere amak eta aitak izuturik begiratzen zioten. Akabo aitzakia! Zerbait horrek, sukaldeko zolak, gelditu egin zion. Bestela...

Beste tabernako kontaketa da hurrengoa. Baten bat zegoen kotxea aparkatu nahian. Han aramaioar bat agertu zen laguntzeko. Bera hasi zen kotxe gidariari esaten:’ Jo, beldur barik’. Gidaria hasi zen bolantea mugitzen kotxea atzerantz eramateko. Aramaioarra eskuineko besoa mugitzen zen bitartean jarraitzen zuen esaten: ‘Jo’.

Gidaria ez zegoen oso ziur, hurbilegi ikusten zuen aldameneko kotxea, baina, hala ere, laguntzailearen aginduak jarraitzea erabaki zuen. Laguntzaileak hantxe irmo jarraitzen zuen besoa mugitzen eta esaten: ’Jo, jo’…Orduan ’Klak’ entzun zen beste kotxearekin talka egin zuenean. Eta  aramaioarrak gaineratu zuen, tonu irmoz: ’Jo duzu’. Eta gertatutakoa zerbait logikoena zelakoan, oso lasai alde egin zuen.

Laugarren motan, zerbait hori ezbehar mingarri batean agerian geratzen da.

Herrian bazegoen pertsonai bat ‘Katanga’ goitizenez ezaguna zen familiakoa. Haien ezizena izen horrekin zuten taberna baten izenetik zetorren. Narratzailearen senitartekoa zen, ze familia horren aita bere aitonaren anaia zen. Oso berezia zen, Union Cerrajera lantegiaren ondoan zeukan txabola bat. Hantxe pare bat txakur , txirrina zahar bat, eta egurrezko txasisko auto zahar bat zeuzkan.

Txirrina horrek ez zeukan frenorik eta hanka puntaz frenatzen omen zuen, atzeko gurpila ukituz. Gure lagun Elias zegoen egun bat Kanpanzarretik Arrasatera sartzen den aldapa pikoa txirrinaz jaisten. Abiadura ederra hartu zuen holako jaitsieran. Tupustean esan zion Eliasek: ‘Hurrengoan frenatuko dut Katanga frenoak erabiliz’. Han hasi zen Muxibar tabernara zeraman mugerrez betetako aldapa zorrotza ziztu bizian jaisten. Bide erdian zegoenean atzeratu zuen eskuineko hanka eta ukitu zuen atzeko gurpila.

Horren ondoren, gora igo zen txirrina osoa. Elias une batean hegaldi izugarri  horretan lurrean eta txirrinaren artean aurkitzen zitzaion. Gero bi eskuekin lurrera kontra joan zen, bizikleta bere gainean zeukalarik. Altxatu zen   garrasiz ’ hiltzen naiz, hiltzen naiz’ bere etxerantz joaten. Hurrengo egunean bi esku igeltsatuekin agertu zen. Hor bai hor, ‘zerbait’ gogorra, errepidearen zorua!

Hurrengoa oso sinplea zen eta ez zuen kontatuko berak testigu zuzena izango ez bazen. ‘Roka’ goitizenezko lagun batek esan zion egun batean: ‘niri ez zait inoiz hezurrik apurtu’. Hurrengo egunean irribarre triste batekin zetorrela, ezkerreko eskua atzean ezkutua zeukan. Astiro-astiro mugituz erakutsi zion ezkerreko eskua igeltsatuta. Honako hau pentsatu zuen hori ikustean: ez esan inoiz ‘niri ez zait zerbait gertatu’, zerbait hori zuri inoiz gertatzerik ez baduzu nahi.

Azkenean, gure asmakizun mekanikoek erakusten zuten batere errukirik gabe ‘zerbait’ hori.

Lagun min bat bueltatzen zen etxera, gau zuri baten ondoan, goizeko zortziak aldera. Presaka zebilen , zeren bere amona goizeko zortzietan mezara joaten zen egunero. Ez zuen berarekin  gurutzatu nahi. Normalean goizago bueltatzen zen, baina gau hura motza egin zitzaion. ‘Zergatik bueltatu, egunez da oraindik-eta, zergatik bueltatu gaua da oraindik-eta’ holako lema zeukan batekin elkartu zen bere galbiderako. Londresen egongo balitz ‘Oliver Reed-ekin topo egin dut-eta’  edo Dublinen ‘Brendan Behan-ekin topo egin dut-eta’ aitzakiak nahikoa izango zitzaketen, baina Arrasaten zegoen.

Presaz presa ikusi zuen Etxe Txikiak eskuinean eta bizkortu zituen pausuak. Ahal bezain isilean ireki zuen atea. Hantxe atarian atxikita zeukan bere begirada penduluzko erloju salatzailean. Ematen zuen ‘bazen garaia, motel’ esaten ari zitzaiola. Oso gutxi faltatzen zaio zortziak jotzeko. Ideia bat izan zuen. Erlojua aurreratzen bazuen pixka bat, ez zuen zortzi kanpaia jo eta etxeko inork ez zuen jakingo ze ordutan etortzen ari zelarik. Horrela erloju salati horrek ez zuen bere etxeratzeko ordua esango. Zabaldu zuen erlojuaren atea eta mugitu zuen erlojuaren orratz luzea.

Ordua pixka bat aurreratu zuen, zortziak eta segundo batzuren puntuan erlojuan jarriz. ‘Beno! Konponduta!’ pentsatu zuen berekiko. Baina gelako atea zabaltzerakoan, erloju malapartatu hori hasi zen jotzen: ‘Don, don…Futbolari eta Arrasateko alkateorde ohiaren etxe hartan goizeko zortzietan penduluzko erlojuak hamasei kanpaiak jo zituen. ’Akabo aitzakia!’ esan zuen lagun minak oheratzekoan.’ Erloju madarikatua. Tramankulu hau etxean egongo ez balitz!’

Hamar gertakari horiek gogoratu eta gero,  zerbait mikatza sentitu zuen bere barruan. Ez zekien argi sentimendu horren arrazoia. ‘Adimen artifizialen hasierako garaian gaudenez, garrantzitsua izango da benetako gertakariak nabarmentzea. Gertakarietan badago hezur eta haragia, eta fantasiazko eremuan, bakarrik gezurrez jositako alegia’-esan zuen berekiko

Marmarrean jarraitu zuen esaten: ’errealitatea da fantasiazko zapatan sartzen zaizun kendu ezinezko hartxintxarra, nor zaren eta non zauden gogoratzen zaituena’.

Amaieran ondorio moduan galdetu zion bere buruari:’ nola inposatzen du errealitateak hamaika aldiz errepikatutako gezurren aurrean? Horra hor gakoa!’

Suddenly the nothing disappeared

The book he was reading had a great question as its common thread: ’why is there something instead of nothing?’ (1) One really deep question! He didn't know that all the philosophy could be analyzed through that question. As a result of that reflection, some thoughts came to his mind. Life can be understood as an escape from anguishing nothingness, according to some thinkers, including Sartre and Heidegger. The action can be seen as that kind of escape.

But without going to that totality, going down to everyday life, some anecdotes that occurred in Mondragon came to his mind, where that 'something', contrary to nothing, became present. 'The youthful habit of going to bars had to serve you something, it's not all due to maturity, man.'-he said to himself. Since they were events of a different type, a kind of classification could be made.

To begin with, the appearance of others was enough for that 'something' to become present. Even if that 'something' was the cause of the desire to escape from it.

He was in front of a palace that had a coat of arms that read like this: ‘Pro nostri generis libertate combusta’ (burned for the freedom of our lineage). Echoes of the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Renaissance. In order not to be a servant of the Count of Oñate, the Artazubiaga burned their house in Bedoña and built another in the town of Mondragon to be free.

That palace had a tree-lined space on one side. In the 20th century, a bar counter was installed in that shady space and a bar was opened, which for lack of a name was known as ‘la Terraza’ (the Terrace). A large family ran that bar at that time.

One weekend at noon the first twenty customers gathered before the bar counter. The youngest son came out to serve them. There the customers began to order: 'a vermouth, a Rioja, a claret, a chacoli'. At first, he looked at the customers like cows look at the train, but then he began to get nervous at the diversity of the requests. And suddenly his face lit up showing his determination.

He took about thirty glasses and a bottle of white wine. He placed them on the bar counter and filled the glasses halfway. And he said: 'that's it, white wine for everyone'. All the customers reluctantly drank the wine and grudgingly paid and left. Something painful turned the innkeeper into something easy, although without paying the slightest attention to the customers' requests.

The owner of that tavern had a parrot: Luixito. Someone one day left the cage door open and the parrot escaped. There the innkeeper and one of his sons followed the parrot, street after street. He was last seen on the electric cables that crossed the ‘Ferial’ (Fair Grounds). The parrot took one last look at them and, ignoring the cries of 'luixito, luixito' and the whistles, flew away. Perhaps he would say to himself: 'better a hundred birds flying than one in the hands of another'.

In the following case the mention of a distant geographical name underlined that ‘something’. Normally used to praise that ‘something’.

We were on the aforementioned 'Terraza'. There was a group eating ‘pinchos’. Among them, one was very happy and comfortable tasting the food. He was a PSOE councilor for the Mondragon Town Hall. Suddenly, full of happiness, he said: 'You wouldn't eat something like that, not even, not even …- to finish his sentence, showing which one was his favorite city -in London’.

He was not wrong in the election. Despite the bad reputation of English cuisine, chefs from around the world have more than filled that void in London.

He was on a sunny summer day in the Udala quarter. On the slopes of Mount Udalaitz a group of people were eating next to a public stone laundry. In that downhill meadow the gentle wind was felt. It was a great help to quell the heat. Among that group, two women stood out.  They were sunbathing and eating in swimsuits.

As a gust of fresh air rose, one said happily to the other: ‘where could we be better than here?’ And after a brief period of time to think, she added: ‘not even in Buenos Aires’. If that woman had known that her foundation Buenos Aires was called 'Our Lady of the Fair Winds’!

Thirdly, it was possible to set another type. The force of gravity and the impossibility of two bodies occupying the same space at the same time showed us that ‘something’.

A nocturnal colleague who had studied with the friars of Aranzazu told him an anecdote that happened to him. It was lunch time and he had been assigned to carry the glasses to the tables. There he went very attentive with a row of ten glasses. He had his left hand holding onto the third glass from the top and his right hand on the glass below. He heard the noise in the dining room and didn't have all his attention on the glasses.  In an instant, the two glasses above began to move, with a loud 'click, click'.

With a reflex movement our friend grabbed the top glass with his right hand, quickly, without a second thought. It's over! The other seven glasses broke on the floor with a terrible crack. Everyone in the dining room stared at him and our friend mentally looked for a place to hide.  Even if that refuge had been the nothing, he would have gladly accepted it!

One of Arechavaleta told him the following another night. After a large round of bars drinking wine, he returned home. It was difficult for him to keep the straight line, but, even so, he was very happy. What would his father and mother say when they saw him in that state? It was around nine and he wasn't hungry at all.

As he climbed the stairs, he had a brilliant idea. He would enter the house, open the kitchen door, say goodnight to his parents and go straight(?) to his room. At least he could open the entrance door. It wouldn't happen to him like others he knew, who, faced with the impossibility of opening the door with the key because of their drunkenness, knelt before the door, earnestly begging it to open itself. He opened the entrance door. Perfect!

But then when he opened the kitchen door, he lost his balance, and staggering after a great swing, he fell flat in the middle of the kitchen floor. His mother and father looked at him terrified.  To the hell with the excuse! That ‘something’, the kitchen floor, stopped him. If not…

Another tavern narration is the following. There was a person trying to park. There someone from Aramayona appeared to help him. He began to tell the driver: 'Move it, don't be afraid, move it'. The driver moved the steering wheel to move the car backwards. The man from Aramayona, while moving his right arm, kept saying: 'Move it'.

The driver was not very sure since he saw the car behind him very close, but he decided to follow the assistant's instructions. The assistant remained firm, moving his arm and saying: 'move it, move it'...Then a click was heard when he collided with the car behind him.  And the one from Aramayona concluded with a firm tone: 'you've already moved the other car'. And as if what happened was something logical and natural, the assistant left calmly.

In the fourth type, a painful accident exposed that ‘something’.

In the town there was a figure who was a member of a family known by the nickname 'Katanga'.  That nickname came from the bar they ran with that very name.  He was a relative of the person who writes this, since the father of the figure in question was the brother of his grandfather. He was very special, next to the Unión Cerrajera company he had a shelter. There he had a couple of dogs, an old bicycle and an old car with a wooden chassis.

That bicycle had no brakes, and apparently it braked with the tip of its foot, touching the rear wheel with it.  One day our friend Elías was cycling down the steep slope that entered Mondragon from Kanpanzar. In that descent he reached dizzying speed. Suddenly Elías said: 'next time I will brake using the “Katanga brakes”'. He began to descend the steep slope full of pebbles at full speed. When he was halfway there, he directed his right leg backwards and touched the rear wheel. As a result, the entire bicycle was lifted into the air. During that terrible flight, Elías found himself between the road surface and the bicycle.

Then he hit the pavement with both arms and the bicycle fell on him. He got up shouting: 'I'm dying, I'm dying' and headed towards his house. The next day he appeared with both arms in casts. It was really a hard 'something', the road surface!

The next one was very simple and would not deserve to be told if he had not witnessed it directly. A friend with the nickname 'Roka' told him one day: 'I have never broken a bone'. The next day he came with a sad smile, hiding his left hand behind him. With a slow movement he showed his casted left hand.

You should think something like this when you saw him: “never say 'something hasn't happened to me' if you don't want that this kind of 'something' happens to you”.

Finally, our own mechanical inventions mercilessly showed us that 'something'.

A close friend was returning home, around 8 in the morning, after spending the entire night drinking in the taverns. He was in a hurry, because he didn't want to cross paths with his grandmother who used to go to eight o'clock mass. She usually came back earlier, but the night was short that time. To his misadventure, he met another whose motto was: 'how to return now if it is still night, how to return now if it is still day'. If he had lived in London it would have been enough for him to tell them 'I got together with Oliver Reed' and if he had lived in Dublin 'I got together with Brendan Behan', but he was in Mondragon.

He was going in a hurry when he saw the so-called 'Little Houses' on the right hand side and he quickened his pace. Opened the door as quietly as he could.  At the entrance he fixed his gaze on the accusatory pendulum clock. It seemed to tell him: 'it's about time, man'. It was very close to eight o'clock. He had an idea. If I advanced the clock a little, the eight chimes would not strike and no one would know what time he had arrived home. So that telltale clock wouldn't proclaim your arrival time home.

He opened the clock door and moved the long hand. He advanced the clock a little, and set the clock at eight and a few seconds. ‘Well, fixed!’- he thought. But when he opened the door to his room, the damn clock started striking: ‘Bong, bong…’ At the house of the former footballer and former deputy mayor of Mondragon that day, at eight in the morning the pendulum clock rang sixteen times. ’Rotten idea!’-said the close friend when he went to bed- Bloody watch! If that thing hadn't been at home...!'

Once he remembered those ten events, he felt something bitter inside him. He wasn't clear about the reason for that feeling. ‘Since we are at the beginning of Artificial Intelligence, it would be necessary to highlight the real events. In these events there is flesh and bone, while in the realm of fantasy there is only a lies compound.’--he said to himself.

Grumbling, he went on to say: 'Reality is the impossible-to-remove pebble that gets into the shoe of fantasy, which reminds us of who we are and where we are.'

In conclusion he asked himself: 'How does reality prevail over a lie repeated over and over?' That is the crucial question!'

ZIO GABEKO INFORMAZIOA

Bere haurtzaroko lagun baten eskela, Kontxirena, ikusi zuen eta horrek bere barruan haurtzaroko gogorapenak eta bizitzaren azalpenik gabeko gertakari batzuk ernarazi zituen.  Aurrera zihoan bere gogoetan murgilduta. ’Fisikarientzat informazioa materia da. Baina orduan, zer izango dira nire haurtzaroko gogoetak? Zelako materiaz konposatuak egongo dira? Bulkada elektrikoaz agian? Baina,… bakarrik?

Neurologoek jakingo balute, gutxienez! -esaten zuen berekiko. ‘Azkenean  ,uhin edo partikula, tontolapiko hutsa izango naiz matematikariek hiru koordenada espazialetan zatikatutako espazioan eta laugarren tenporalaren  zehar mugitzen dela, ez  beste gauzarik’-gehitu zuen marmarka haserre samar .

Bere buruan Toribio Aguirre kalea gorpuzten ari zen , korridore luze bat balitz bezala. Hasieran Patxiren zapategian, bere  mailuaren kla-kla soinua entzuten zelarik. Gero  Emiliren elikagai-dendara, bere senarra Jose Garmendia zaldibiarra, orgatxotik tiraka  berak herri osoko labean egindako ogiak eta opiltxoarekin zetorrelarik.

Hurrengoa, Izkina taberna. Han egongo zen Sodupe goiza lasaian asperturik besoak gurutzatuak zituztelarik eta arratsalde jendetsuan lanez lepo bete. Gero Txantxote arrandegi builosoa, garrasi eta ur txorrotaz bete zelarik. Aurrean  Arbolapetako gerizpea, kaletarren elkargunea, goizean jende barik. Hurrengoa Juldain estankoa. Han ziren tabakoaz gain Novaro editorialeko ‘Vidas ejemplares’, ‘La Codorniz’ eta ‘el Caso’ aldizkariak bere erakusleihoan.

Aurrexeago Petra ‘kolunas’ fruta-denda eta  Gomix etxetresnaren denda, tramankulu bitxiaz mukuru zelarik bere ferra itxurako espazioan. Eskuinean  bere lehengusua Pedro Zubiaren ‘Perikin’ ile-apaindegia, isekari asko zeuden bezeroen artean! Kaleko beste aldean  ‘el Caserio’ taberna. Kale bukaeran  harresiz inguraturiko Montzon etxea, bere udareondo fruituz kargaturik.

Kaletik ateratzean San Frantzisko eliza eta haren klaustroak(kalistroak) aurkitzen ziren, merkatuaren ondoan. Hango merkatua asteburuan ‘Berduli dancing’ izendatua, gazteentzako dantzalekua bihurtzen zen. Klaustroan zuten Mesedeetako mojek beren haur eskola. Eskolaren atea itxita aurkituko zela itxaropen sekretuaz ,astiro joaten izan zen. Batzuetan bere asmoa bete zuen.

Moja bat jubilatzera zihoan eta berari tokatu zitzaion bere lehen urteko eskolan moja horri beren omenezko diskurtsoa irakurtzea. Hitzaldia entseatzeko beste moja bat neskaren gela bat eraman zion eta diskurtsoaren papera emanez agindu zion: ‘irakurri’. Gero hasi zen esaten: ‘altuxeago’. Aspertu samar hartu zion gerritik eta idazmahai baten gainean jarriz esan zion: ‘Orain bai, altuxeago. Ekin irakurtzen’. Gelako neska guztiek, bera baino hiru urte zaharragoak, barrez lehertu ziren. Berak ez zuen gogoratu diskurtso horren hitzik, baina bai zelako lotsa pasatu zuen entsegu hartan.

Beste egun batean moja bat eseri zen bere ondoan. Infernura gaixtoak joaten ziren hasi zen esaten eta zer txarto pasatzen ziren han. Minutu batzuk eman zuen horrelako panorama izugarria deskribatzen eta berak ez zuen batere ideiarik zertaz zihoan mojaren halako beldurrezko azalpenik . Azkenean kendu zion zeukan zorrozkailua. Amari dena esanda arratsaldean berarekin bueltatu behar zuen gauzak argitzeko. Berak margo kaxa berri bat trukatu zuen zorrozkailu bategatik beste ikaskide batekin. Beste ikaskideren gurasoek bakarrik zorrozkailuen falta somatu zuten, baina ez margo kaxa berriren sobera. Epaia fina suertatu zen moja hori bost urteko mutilari infernura botatzen, arrazoi guztiak kontuan hartu gabe.

‘Zeruan ere holako justizia eskasa egoten bada, hobe infernuan!’-pentsatu zuen bat-batean. Baina oroigarri polita ere bazuen. Egun batean, sarbideren ondoren kokatuko mahaitik etxera joateko asmoz altxatu zelarik, moja batek deitu zion bere mahaira, beste guztiak etxerako bidea hartzen zuten bitartean. Esan zidan: ‘hiru lagun bazarete eta zazpi sagarrak badituzu, zenbat bakoitzerako?’ Berak erantzun zion: ‘bi’. ‘Eta zenbat geratuko dira soberan?’-galdetu zion berriro. ‘Bat’- erantzun zion. Pare bat antzeko galdera eta esan zion bukaeran: ’Tira, zoaz etxera. Badakizu orain zatiketak egiten’.

Moja aurreratuak eta zintzoak bazeuden ere haur eskola hartan, non pausu martzialean eta ilaran sartu behar baitziren, gerrako abesti frankista bat  kantatzen ari zeneko keinua egiten zuten bitartean. Gela horren kanpoko aldean zegoen baratz txiki bat, non txerri potolo bat hazten zuten. Izugarrizko tamaina zeukan!

Hala ere, zer ez luke emango bizitu zuen gertakari batzuren arrazoia jakiteko…

Berarentzat, beste korridorea Zarugalde kale aldetik zehar joaten zen. Etxetik entzuten zen trafikoaren zarata. Nola kamioiak, batez ere, azeleratzen zuten kale hasieran eta aurrera joan ahala ailegatzen zen zarata moteltzen zihoan , kaleko bukaeran zegoen arkua pasatzeko eta eskuinaldera Kanpazarreko norabidea har zedin.

Gauean sukaldeko sabaiko forma konkor eta arrakalatsuak argi hitsen menpean kamioi horien eta arkuaren figurak biziarazten zuten, beste figurekin batera, kamioi zarata entzuten zuen bitartean. Udako gauetan ere txitxarren zaratak zerbait ernarazten zuen bere barruan, ’hator, hator’ esaten baliote bezala. Arratsaldeko seirak aldera kaleko eguratsaren aldaketa somatzen zen  nolabait argiaren moteltzearekin. Bizitza abiadura indargetzen ariko balitz bezala. Txoriaren txorrotxioka zein arboletan gaua igaroko ziren bila, alde batetik.

Lanetik etortzen ziren kotxeak, bestetik, hantxe bere etxe aurrean gelditzerakoan. Ateak zabaltzen ziren ‘bihar arte’ batekin eta gero ixten ziren ‘plast’-hotsarekin. Gero berriro motorra martxan jartzen zen.

Bere hirugarren korridorea zen San Kristobalekoa. Eguerdiko hamabietan, Angelus garaian, ermitako kanpaitxoren  hotsak bere etxetik entzuten ziren. Mendixka hartan igota entzuten zen herriaren burrundara. Kotxeen motorrak eta klaxonak, jenderen garrasiak, txakur batzuen zaunkak, txistu batzuk, Parrokiako kanpai hotsak ordua ematen, horiek erakusten zuten herria izaki bizidun antzeko zerbait zela.

Bera erdi erdian zegoenean ez zen nabaritzen zein zaratatsua zen bere herria. Baina handik urruntzen zenean ,ordea, osotasun zalapartatsua bihurtzen zen. Ematen zuen musika orkestra trakets baten aurrean zegoela, non  bakoitzak hasi baino leheneko afinazio soinuak egiten baitzuen, beste musikariek zer nota jotzen zuten  batere jaramonik egin gabe.

Hala ere, zer ez luke emango bizitu zuen gertakari batzuren arrazoia jakiteko…

Argi zeukan zertzeladak bestelakoak zirela gertakari horiek gertatu zirenean. Ez zegoen orduan telefono mugikorrik . Horrek nahi zuen esan informazio iturri bakarrak zirela egunkari batzuk eta telebista kate gutxi. Ez zegoen sare sozialik ‘Ez zegoen gaur bezala etxe askotan idazle isil bat bere iritzia egia bihurtzen saiatzen. Isiltasuna bakarrik apurtzen duena letra larrien erabilera izaten da.

Bere senean ez daudenentzako  beste aukerarik ez da geratzen bere garrasiak eta aginduak letra larrien bidez adierazteaz kanpo. Horretarako ere kodea erabili behar!’- esan zuen berekiko haserre samar. ’Bigarren gerra mundialaren garaian hainbeste irrati igorle balego Ipar Amerikarrak bukatuko zinatekeen Islandian Normandiako bideaz galdezka.

Bitartean Frantziako Normandian inguruko irrati igorleak  ‘udazkeneko biolin negar luzeak ’(1) nolako eragina izango  ziokeela beren bihotzean edo udazkena instrumenturik egokiago zein izan  zitekeen ibiliko ziren eztabaidatzen ’-oharkabeko irri batekin pentsatu zuen

Hasteko ‘déjà vu’ bat ez zela bazekien. Horrelakoak, beharbada, garunaren atal zehatz bat jasotzen zuen bulkada elektriko batek eragin zitzakeen.  Irakurria zuen pertsona batek bulkada elektriko bat jasotzen bazuen ezker lobulu frontaleko puntu batean, aurrean ikusten zuen guztia barregarria iruditzen zitzaiola, edozer zela ere, kartzelara joateko agintzen zuen papera izan bazen ere.

Baina ez, kanpoko zerbaitek ere esku hartzen zuen hemen. Bere bizitzarekin zerikusirik izango balu, bere etorkizunaren liburuan lerro zatitu eta lauso batzuk irakurri zituelako ideia irits zitekeen.

Lehendabizikoa oporretan zegoenean gertatu zitzaion . Egun hartan bizikleta hartu eta Beasaindik Ataunerako bidetik abiatu zen. Bide estua eta bihurgunetsua abiaturik, hasi zen kotxeren matrikuletan erreparatzen. Lehendabizikoa serie arrunt batean zegoen,1357, edo antzeko zerbait. Beste batean lehendabiziko bi zenbakiak  eta azkeneko biak zenbaki bereak ziren edo buelta emanda. Horrelako matrikulak ohi baino kantitate nabarmen handiago ikusi zuen.

Ez zen gogoratzen zehatz-mehatz nola izan zen, baina antzeko egoera barruan egoteak eraman zuen berarekin zer esanik zeukan zerbait gertatzen ari zela pentsatzera. Holako pentsamendu bitxia zuen buruan, ‘zeruak zerbait esaten ari zatzaizkit ’ bezalako pentsamendua nolabait. Zerbait zeharo irrazionala zen baina holako aldartzean aurkitzen zitzaidan. Oporrak bukaturik Bilbora bueltatu zenean enteratu zen promozionatua izan zela.

Gogoratu zen bigarren kasua nolakoa zen, bestea baino bitxiagoa. Goiz batean Beasainen lanera zihoan. Abenduko egun hotsa zen. Ez zeraman denbora asko lan egiten eta presaz presa zihoan. Aparkatuta espaloiaren ondoan  ikusi zuen furgoneta txiki bat. Furgonetak zeukan ipinita atean letra larriz hurrengo izena: XAKA ORDIZIA. Berak furgoneta ikusi eta bat-batean bere burutik zeharkatu zioan hitz bat: Sa Carneiro. Handik metro batzuetara lantokian sartu zen. Gero gauean etxera bueltatu zenean enteratu zen telebistan  Sa Carneiro hil zela istripu batean pasa zen gauan.

Hirugarrena harrigarri samar zen berarentzat. Behin bere laguna Iñaki Berezibar ‘Txaparro’ berarekin iota eta jota non erabili behar hitz egiten egon zen. Bera behin bere aitarekin Aramaiora joan zela gogoratu zuen. Hantxe mezatan abadea sermoia ematerakoan iotaz betetako euskara erabili zuen. Berarentzat mundu ezberdin bat zen.

Gainera Arrasateko euskara jotaz beteriko euskara zela. ‘Juau’,’ jitzuau’,’jat’,’jok’ eta antzekoak asko erabilitakoak  ziren Arrasaten. Bai, ahoskera zakar samar zen baina ,hala ere, berea. Horregatik ez zuen ulertzen nola bere laguna Iñaki Berecibar Joseba iotaz ahoskatzearen alde zegoen. Bera zen betidanik Joseba, jotarekin esanda. Azkenean bere azalpenaz eta erretolikaz asperturik Iñaki Berecibarrek esan zuen. ‘Beno, aurrerantzean ‘Josebapulos’ deituko zaitut’. Handik  hamaika bat urte Malagan zegoen lanetan.

Bere lankideak, Emilio Alba, ingelesez zegoen Tarot baten erabiltzeko argibideak gaztelerara itzultzeko eskatu zion. Bere bikotekidea, Lola, mundu esoteriko horretan sartuta zegoen-eta. Behin itzulpena eginda, bere lankideak bere etxera eraman zion. Bere bikotekidea oso argala zen, benetan bitxia, itxura espiritualegia bere gusturako. Lolak esan zion  Burgoskoa zela eta bat-batean esan zion.’Josebapulos’. Nahiz eta zeharo harrituta egon, ez entzunarena egin zuen, batere jaramonik egin gabe. Ez zen egon berriro Lolarekin.

Laugarrena prentsan irakurritakoa zen. ‘Pais Semanal’-ek ‘Uliako sorgina’ri eginiko elkarrizketa bat gogoratu zuen. Maritxu Erlanz-ek, Erronkarikoa, jaso zuen kazetaria eta argazkilarien bisita. Elkarrizketa hasi eta gutxira argazkilariari esan zion: ‘Zuk bizkarrean orezta bat duzu’. Eta hala zen, nahiz eta  bizkarra ondo estalita zuen, han orezta bat zeukan.

Bidai mentala hori ez zen berarentzat oso eroso suertatu. Hala ere, galdera pare bat bere buruan zebilen erantzun baten xerka .‘Zergatik gogoratu naiz nire haur eskolako gertakarietaz?-esan zuen berekiko. ‘Agian, Kontxi ezagutu baino aurrerago eramate horrek heriotza nire burutik deuseztatuko zuelakoan nengoke’-erantzun zion bere buruari.

‘Zergatik nik ezagutu ditudan azalpen arrazionalik gabeko gertakari batzuk etorri zaizkit burura?- marmartu zuen etsipenez. Ez zitzaion korapilatsua ez zela erantzunik bururatu. Nor zen bera zientzia eta osotasunaren ezberdintasunari buruz zerbait esateko? Orduan gogoratu zuen giza adimenari buruz irakurri zuena:  ‘naturak bizirauteko asmoarekin eginiko tresna dela , ez kosmosaren barneko izaeran barneratzeko’(2).

‘Gauza batzuk jakin daiteke bide ezezagunagatik, nahiz eta bakarrik txatxuek pentsa dezake horrelako jakintza erabili modukoren bat antola dezake. Zerbait zatikatua, osatugabea, baina, hala ere, bide ez-ohikoak jaso daitekeenaren aurrean gaude’- pentsatu zuen azkenean.

No volvió a ver a Lola.

INFORMATION WITHOUT REASON

He saw an obituary of a childhood friend, Conchi, and that awakened within him memories of his childhood and some unexplained events. He walked on deep in thought.

’ For physicists, information is matter. But then, what kind of things are my childhood memories? What material will they be composed of?  Maybe of electrical impulses? But, only that one? If only neurologists knew! – he said to himself.

'In the end, particle or wave, I am just a fool who moves through that space divided by mathematicians into three spatial coordinates and one temporal coordinate, nothing else more' -- he added, muttering quite angrily.

Toribio Aguirre Street took shape in his brain, as if it were an elongated hallway.  At the beginning Patxi the shoemaker, where the 'bam, bam' sound of his hammer could be heard. Then Emili's grocery store, where her husband Jose Garmendia, from Zaldibia, approached, pulling a wheelbarrow full of breads and buns that he had baked in the communal oven.

Next, the Iskiña bar. There would be Sodupe bored during the quiet morning and full of people and overwhelmed with work in the afternoon. Then the noisy Txantxote fish market, full of shouting and jets of water. In front the shadows of Arbolapeta, a meeting place for people, without people in the morning. Then the Juldain tobacconist. There in their shop window, in addition to tobacco, were the magazines 'Vidas Ejemplares' from the Novaro publishing house, 'La Codorniz' and 'el Caso'.

A little further on, the fruit shop of Petra 'kolunas' and the Gomix kitchen gadget store, packed with gadgets in its horseshoe-shaped space. On the right was his cousin Pedro Zubia 'Perikin's barbershop. How many sarcastic people among his clients! On the other side of the street was the 'Caserío' bar. And at the end of the street, surrounded by walls, was the Montzon house, with its pear trees loaded with fruit.

Leaving the street was the church of San Francisco and its cloister, next to the market. That market on weekends was called ‘Berduli dancing’, and became a dancing place for young people. In that cloister the Mercedarian nuns had a nursery school. He used to go slowly, secretly hoping to find the school doors closed. Sometimes he achieved his goal. A nun was going to retire and he was chosen, in his first year of nursery school, to read her tribute speech.

Another nun took him to a girls' classroom to rehearse the speech and give him the text of the speech ordering him: 'read it'. Then she began to tell him:’ louder'’. Somewhat bored, she grabbed him by the waist, put him on top of a school desk and told him: 'Now, in a higher voice. Keep it reading'. All the girls in the classroom, three years older than him, burst out laughing. He no longer remembered any of the words of the speech, but he did remember the shame he experienced in that rehearsal.

Another day a nun sat next to him. He began to tell him that bad people went to hell and how bad they had it there. He spent several minutes describing that terrifying panorama and he still didn't understand what the nun's creepy explanation was about.  In the end he took from him the pencil sharpener away and left. He explained everything to her mother and in the afternoon he returned with her to the nursery school to clarify things. He had exchanged the pencil sharpener for a new paint box with another pupil. The other pupil's parents missed the pencil sharpener, but they didn't notice that he had a new paint box.

The nun turned out to be a diligent judge sending a five-year-old boy to hell, without taking into account all the reasons. 'If there is so little justice in heaven, it is better to go to hell' – he thought to himself. But he also had beautiful memories. One day, when he got up from the table next to the exit door to go home, a nun called him to his table, while everyone else was already going home. He told him: 'If you are three friends and you have seven apples, how many do you get for each one?'. He answered: ‘two’. 'And how many do you have left?' she asked him again. ‘One’- he answered. A couple more questions of that type and at the end he said: 'Well, go home. You already know how to divide’.

There were also advanced nuns and good people in that nursery school where they entered at a martial pace and in a row while making the gesture of singing some Francoist martial song. Outside that classroom there was a small garden where a fat pig was fattening. It had a formidable size!

Still, what he wouldn't have given to know the reason for some of the experiences he had experienced...!

For him, another corridor was the one that crossed Zarugalde Street. From home he could hear the noise of traffic. How the trucks, above all, accelerated at the beginning of the street, and as they advanced the sound faded until they passed under the arch of the street to turn right towards Kanpazar.

At night, under the weak light on that somewhat lumpy and slightly peeling roof of the kitchen, the shapes of those trucks and the arch came to life, accompanied by other shapes, as he heard the sound of traffic on the street.  On summer nights, the noise of the cicadas stirred something inside him, as if they were saying 'come, come'. In the afternoon around six there seemed to be a change in the atmosphere with the weakening of the light. As if the speed at which we live were slowing down.  On one side, the birds chirping in search of their tree to spend the night. On the other were the cars that came from work and stopped near his house. The door opened with a 'see you tomorrow' and then closed with a 'slam'. The engine was started again.

His third corridor was that of the mound of San Cristóbal. At twelve noon, at the time of the Angelus, the sound of the small bell of its hermitage could be heard from his house. From the top of that mound you could hear the noise of the town.  The car engines, and the horns, the screams of the people, the barking of some dogs, some whistles, the Parish bells ringing the hours, all this showed that the town was something like a living being.

When he was inside it he didn't realize how noisy his town was, but when he moved away from it a little, it became a bustling whole. He seemed to be in front of a clumsy orchestra, where each one tuned his instrument before the concert, without paying attention to the notes played by the others.

Still, what he wouldn't have given to know the reason for some of the experiences he had experienced...!

He was clear that the circumstances were different when he lived those experiences. There were no mobile phones. That meant that the only sources of information were a few newspapers and a few television stations. Social networks did not exist. ‘There were not many silent writers like today in many homes trying to make their opinion true. The only thing that breaks that silence is the use of capital letters. Those who are not in their right mind have no other recourse to express their shouts or orders than to use capital letters. Even for that you have to use a code!’- he said to himself rather angry.

’During the Second World War, if there had been so many radio stations, the Americans would still be in Iceland asking for directions to Normandy. Meanwhile in France, radio stations around Normandy would be discussing what effect 'the long sobs of the autumn violins' would have on their hearts’ (1) or what instrument would be most appropriate to express autumn' -he thought with an involuntary smile.

He knew that it wasn't a ‘déjà vu’.  These cases could be caused by an electrical impulse on a certain point in the brain. He had read that when a person receives an electrical impulse at a certain point in the left frontal lobe, everything in front of him seems funny, even if it was his own incarceration order. But no, something external was coming into play here. If it had anything to do with his life, he might come to the idea that he had read something blurry and fragmentary from the book of his future.

The first one happened while he was on vacation. That day he took the bicycle and from Beasain he went to Ataun.  Going down that narrow and curvy road he began to notice the license plates of the cars.  The first was a regular series, 1357, or something like that. In another, the first two numbers and the last two were the same, or in reverse position.

These types of license plates began to be seen by him in greater numbers than usual. He didn't remember exactly what it was like, but this situation led him to think that something that had to do with him was happening. He had a strange thought in his head, which somehow led him to think that 'the heavens were telling him something'. It was totally irrational, but he was immersed in that state of mind. Once the vacation was over, he returned to Bilbao and there he found out that he had been promoted at work.

He remembered how the second case was, even stranger than the previous one. One morning in Beasain he was going to work. It was a cold December morning. He hadn't been in the company for long so he was in a hurry. Next to the sidewalk was a small van.

The van had the following name written on the door in capital letters: XAKA ORDIZIA. At the same moment he saw it, a name crossed his mind: Sa Carneiro. From there, a few meters away, he entered in his working place. Later that night when he returned home he found out on television that Sa Carneiro had died in an accident the night before.

The third case was rather surprising. He was once talking to his friend Iñaki Berecibar 'Txaparro' about when to use the jota or the iota in Basque. He remembered that once he went with his father to Aramayona.  There the priest gave a sermon using a Basque language full of iotas. For him it turned out to be a different world.

Furthermore, Mondragon's Basque was a Basque language full of jotas. 'Juau', 'jitzuau', 'jat', 'jok' and similar ones were widely used. Yes, it was a somewhat harsh pronunciation, but it was, nevertheless, of their own. That's why he couldn't understand how his friend Iñaki Berecibar told him that he had to say his name Joseba using the iota. At the end, bored with his rhetoric and his explanations, Iñaki Berecibar told him: 'well, from now on I will call you 'Josebapulos.'.

About eleven years later he was working in Malaga. His colleague, Emilio Alba, asked him to translate some instructions of use of a Tarot that were in English into Spanish.  Since his partner, Lola, was in that world of the esoteric.  Once the translation was done Emilio took him to his house. His partner, Lola, was very thin, looking too spiritual for his taste. Lola told him that she was from Burgos and suddenly said to him: 'Josebapulos'. Despite being totally astonished, he didn't make any gesture, as if he hadn't heard. He never saw Lola again.

The fourth he read in the press. He remembered an interview to the 'witch of Ulia' in the 'Pais Semanal'. Maritxu Erlanz, from the Roncal-Erronkari, received a visit from the journalist and the photographer. Shortly after beginning the interview he told the photographer: ‘You have a mole on your back'. And so it was, despite having his back covered, he had a mole in it.

That mental trip did not turn out to be very pleasant for him. Even so, he had a couple of questions in mind in search of answers. ‘Why have I remembered events from my nursery school?’ -he asked himself. ‘Perhaps, by taking my memories to a time before I met Conchi, I would try to erase the idea of death from my mind.’-he answered himself.

‘Why have this kind of events come to my mind that have no rational explanation? - he murmured desperately. No simple explanation came to his mind. Who was he to say anything about the difference between totality and science? Then she remembered something she had read about human intellect: ‘which were tooled by nature for survival, not for penetrating the inner nature of the cosmos’ (2).

‘Some things can be known in unknown ways, although only a fool would think that this kind of knowledge could be organized in a way that could be used. We are faced with something fragmentary, incomplete, which, even so, we can receive through unusual means’- he finally concluded.
